What this random string generator does
This tool builds random strings from an alphabet you control. It is useful for sample data, temporary labels, test usernames, nonces, mock coupon codes, and other values where you want randomness but not a full password workflow.
Choosing an alphabet
The alphabet determines which characters may appear. For human-readable values, use upper-case letters and digits while removing characters that look alike. For compact machine identifiers, include upper and lower case letters. For secrets, prefer the password generator because it includes clearer security defaults and avoids accidental weak character sets.
Practical examples
| Need | Suggested alphabet |
|---|---|
| Test username suffix | lowercase letters and digits |
| Printed code | uppercase letters and digits without 0/O/I/1 |
| Short fixture key | letters, digits and symbols |
Privacy and mistakes
Strings are generated locally and are not uploaded. The most common mistake is choosing a tiny alphabet and a short length, then assuming the result is strong. A six-character numeric string is fine for a mock OTP in a test fixture; it is not a secure password.
Browser-only processing
Random String Generator runs as plain JavaScript inside this page using the browser's own Web Crypto and text APIs where the tool needs randomness or hashing. There is no request to our server when you press the tool buttons, so nothing you enter leaves your device through EmailGenerator.pro.
Privacy note
No input is sent anywhere by the tool. It operates entirely in your browser tab. You can verify this by opening the browser's network inspector and running the tool: execution does not create an outbound request.
